September brings a full lineup of festivals celebrating local flavors, global cultures, creativity and the start of fall. Explore what’s happening throughout the Treasure Valley and make room for a new seasonal tradition.

Boise Comic Arts Festival returns for its 14th year with a two-day Artist’s Alley, cosplay, panels, performances and creative workshops. The festival is free to attend, and registration is not required.

Welcome the season with artisan vendors, live music, food trucks, pumpkin photo opportunities and a cider-tasting garden. Family-friendly activities include inflatables, face painting, a jumping pad and a petting zoo.

Experience Scottish culture through Great Highland bagpipes, Celtic music, dancing, traditional performances, authentic cuisine and clan gatherings. The weekend celebration also includes a lively Céilidh where guests of all experience levels can dance, sing along and connect with the community.

Tuesdays in September | 5–8 PM
Shop fresh produce, baked goods, artisan products and handmade finds from more than 30 regional vendors. Stay for dinner downtown and live music from Tuesdays on the Creek, which begins nearby at 6 PM.

Explore Zoo Boise after hours with animal exhibits, Butterflies in Bloom, carousel rides and special entertainment from Txantxangorriak and the Oinkari Basque Dancers. Admission ranges from $12–$15, children ages 2 and younger are free, and Zoo Boise members receive free admission; tickets are available at the gate only.

Wednesday–Sunday, September 2–6 | Morning launches begin around 7:20 AM
Celebrate the 35th anniversary of this beloved Boise tradition as colorful hot air balloons fill the sky over Ann Morrison Park. Highlights include free tethered rides for children on Wednesday, daily morning launches and Friday evening’s Nite Glow Spectacular with food, vendors and live music. All balloon launches are weather-dependent, and public balloon rides are not available.

Celebrate 25 years of Bug Day with insect encounters, microscopes, crafts, face painting, a silent disco, giant yard games and returning favorites like Ask an Entomologist and live trivia. Admission also includes access to Woodland Wonders, featuring 21 larger-than-life creatures and botanical sculptures throughout the Garden.
From candlelit rock anthems and high-energy electronic music to live comedy and tribute performances, September’s entertainment lineup has something for nearly every taste.

Celebrate the timeless music of Fleetwood Mac with Tell Me Lies, a tribute band recreating the group’s beloved hits and unmistakable sound. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the performance beginning at 8 p.m. This is an all-ages show.

Denver duo Big Gigantic fuses electronic beats with live saxophone and elements of jazz, hip-hop, funk and bass music. Known for high-energy performances and hits including “All of Me” and “The Little Things,” the group brings an immersive live show to Boise. This event is for ages 18 and older.

Alternative rock trio Dogstar—Bret Domrose, Robert Mailhouse and Keanu Reeves—brings its All In Now Tour to Boise. This is an all-ages show.

Experience iconic rock and metal anthems reimagined by a 14-piece ensemble of classical musicians in an atmospheric candlelit setting. Cheer on AC Boise during two September home matches at its new stadium at Expo Idaho. The club first faces the legendary New York Cosmos before taking on Charlotte Independence five days later.

Friday, September 18 | 6–9 PM
Celebrate the end of summer at this adults-only evening featuring live music, animal encounters, zookeeper chats, special experiences and free carousel rides. General admission is $30 in advance or $35 at the gate, while $80 VIP tickets include early admission, appetizers, a welcome drink and a guided zoo tour. This event is for ages 21 and older, and a valid photo ID is required.

Spend Tuesday evenings beside Indian Creek with free performances from local and touring musicians. Grab dinner from a nearby restaurant, explore the neighboring Farm to Fork Market and enjoy country, folk, rock, funk and more as the sun sets over downtown Caldwell.

Test your animal knowledge during a wild 21-and-older trivia night featuring themed rounds and guided after-hours zoo tours. Registration is required, and admission is $20 per person; beer, cider and wine will be available for purchase with a valid ID.
